Sea Kayaking New Zealand Tours

Island Time Tour – Full Day

There is no wonder this is one of the most popular New Zealand sea kayaking tours and has been rated highly by everyone that has come with us. This tour is for the adventurous souls and the ones that really want something special. Get away from the crowded boats and come and enjoy a real adventure. This tour gives you the time to soak up all the Bay has to offer.

The Bay of Islands is a Sea Kayaking paradise with crystal clear water, rock gardens, caves and abundant marine life. We pride ourselves on our small group sizes (8 or less) and our flexible planning. Intimate group sizes give us the chance to keep everyone on the tour happy and cater for the whole group.

Our tour is very flexible due to the changing weather but one option is paddling to Motorua Island and then stopping at Twin Lagoons beach on Roberton Island. Another option is heading out to the white sands of Waewaetorea Island and some of the caves of Urupukapuka Island. Around half of the time is kayaking and the rest of the day is spent enjoying the islands.

Available All Year Round

Our kayak adventure tours start when we pick you up from your accommodation and head for the car ferry to Okaito (NZ’s first Capital). From here we have a scenic drive along the Russell peninsula to where we start. After we get comfortable with the gear and cover a few safety points we can get our kayaks on the water.

The Islands of the Bay are surrounded by white sand beaches and rocky coastline. There are caves to paddle your sea kayak into and explore and the water is crystal clear. There are over 100 islands in total and each one is different. We can chill out and take a swim or snorkel at one island then have some lunch, take a walk and get some photos on the next . This is a full day out on the water so there is lots of chances to come across little blue penguins and other amazing marine life.

Your local guide will take you to the best spots and will spin you a few yarns about local legends and the rich Māori and European History. After an amazing day out at the islands we get back to the beach and will drop you back in town. We get back to Russell around 3.30pm and Paihia just after 4pm.
